Do you have any clients? That was how I started, I had the clients and so went out on my own with the idea to get more. But being self-starting was not my strong suit so I got a couple more clients but hated actually doing the work so did not get enough money to live on and had to go back to a regular job.

It is very hard being self-employed since you have to do the work AND keep beating the bushes for new business, it does not come to you. Doing proposals and set up does not earn any money but takes time.
