I tore my meniscus .. and on my right knee !! I had orthoscopic surgery. It was a piece of cake - I crutch-walked out of the out patient surgery center better than I hobbled in. Recovery time from surgery wsa tough in that I had to start PT the very next day. They don't let you "rest". The PT was tough. Needed lots of ice afterwards. I can't remember exactly but I think I had PT twice a week for about 4 weeks. I have knee excercises that I "should" do but don't always .. and I should do them all the time.

Overall - the surgery was easy, the PT was tough, but I can walk without paid and without a gimp.

Good luck with your surgery & recovery.

p.s. I found a family size bag of frozen peas worked best to ice down my knee after doing my excercises. The peas fit / conform perfectly around my knee. Don't forget to ice the back of your knee - that spot needs ice too.
