So it's long been known that females have later onset and often better prognosis in sz. This has been attributed to estrogen...the med in this article is used for osteoporosis and is an estrogen receptor modifier...anyway this trial was in post-menopausal women and helped with sz symptoms. But the idea is to later test on younger women with sz and even men...the hope is this would not causes feminization in men because it just changes the receptor and not the estrogen level...but it hasn't been tested so it's just girls for now. But the gist is this is an off-label use for a currently available med that's safe enough to take to prevent bone problems so it's likely to have a minimal side effect profile and may be a great add-on for antipsychotics for women with sz...
