nsi,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having so much confusion right now. It does happen to all of us at one time or another. As far as the Effexor goes, it has helped many; many people live a more normal life. For others, it causes problems. For even others, it does nothing. But if you are getting such positive results from it, why not give it a try? These stories you are hearing are things that have happened to others, and have nothing to do with you. Just because a med has a bad reaction on one person, doesn’t mean it will happen to you. We’re all very different people. Effexor might just be the miracle med for you. The one thing I’ve read about Effexor that happens to most people, is that if and when it comes times to stop the med, it can be a very rough med to detox from, but it can be done.
I guess the question you need to ask yourself is, “Am I going to deny myself the chance to possibly feel better because of some stories I’ve heard, or am I going to take a chance on something that has already made me feel better and may improve my life”. Whatever choice you make, I hope it’s based on research and study, and not based on what may be irrational fear.
Whatever you choose to do, I hope it works out the very best possible for you.
Greg
