Hi az tc, first of all you're not a screw up, all right?? There is more to you and your life than the situation you've found yourself in. And as for embarrassment, well you didn't deliberately, without a care, knowing what would happen put yourself in this situation, right?
And it doesn't have to say anything about you that this has happened, it's my guess that everything just built up from nowhere and you felt pretty powerless in it all.
But now is going to be the time to try and focus on solutions, because there will be some out there. Not necessarily easy ones, but they have to be easier than what you're going through right now.
You could try talking to the credit card companies and explaining your situation and they could come to an agreement about a minimum charge you can pay weekly/monthly. After all if they're getting something ten that's more than nothing and some may go for that.
But if that's not successful then you could get some legal advise/support. Some lawyers will only charge minimum fees for a first consultation so worth checking that out if you need to. And you know if it comes to "bankruptcy" then that does not have to mean that everything's fallen through. It might just be the resolve you need in this if it comes to it.
And your parents: well they can maybe still give you some emotional support?? If you were in their position wouldn't you want to be there for your son/daughter?? I'm sure a lot of parents would. So maybe see if you can give them that chance to offer you some support?? And that would not make you a burden, families should be there to support each other through hard times, and that's all you'd be looking for right now, yes?
But if you want to talk more.............here for you.
