I'm sorry, that sounds rough... I would just keep my head down and stay out of the conflict, do my job well, and do my best to dodge all the bullsh*t that's going around. If the patients appreciate your care and you're doing your job well then you can be proud of yourself. Like you said you're there for the patients and to do your best for them, not to get involved in some petty political office crap! Appreciation from patients + no (justified, legitimate) criticisms from supervisors means you are doing a great job I think.
Anyways good luck, I'm terrible at dealing with those kinds of touchy, negativity-fueled situations and that would really stress me out so I feel for you...
