Where I am telling them that you are suicidal doesn't necessarily mean hospitalization, but it sometimes can. They try to determine the level of risk, and if the risk is high then it's hospital. If the risk is low to moderate, then it's safety plan. Either way it's good to talk about it with your therapist so that you don't have to be alone with those feelings. Going to hospital can help if it's needed.
