Hi all today my sons school received a letter in referral to some counselling ( he has anxiety due to my physical disabilities) he is going to have now in this letter all of my mental health problems were noted, were talking depression,GAD and personality disorders. The teacher told me she had received it and I told her that I had asked the counsellor not to disclose my mental health issues, she toldme that she understood why as it was very personal.
I understand full details are needed to allow my son to gain the correct support but I specified not these details now I'm do embarrassed.
The reason why is because I'm also a teacher (no longer working) and during visits to school myself and the staff would discuss teaching issues etc and I felt a mutual respect both personally and professionally, a couple of my childhood friends teach there too. Now I feel as if they going to look at me differently like some lunatic and I never want to attend parent evenings again, I'm mortified!
I don't care what anybody says mental health still has that awful stigma attached
I'm devestated
J
