My daughter turned out to have MH issues, and I waited too long to get her help because I was in denial and afraid to put her on meds. I first noticed issues in adolescence and SHOULD have done something then. By 16 it was obvious and I took her to a psychologist, who recommended a psychiatrist.
You are an excellent parent for facing the issue head-on and putting yourself out there so the professionals have all the info they need.
Sounds like people already have a high opinion of you. I think teachers are by nature a caring bunch. Just act like nobody knows.
