I know what you mean. I guess I try many things to soothe that feeling of desperation and isolation that boils up inside.
Sometimes a warm shower and crawling under the covers and listening to music brings me back to my innocence.
Sometimes I want someone to talk to me so I search for topics under youtube I like and then listen to them talk to me. Many shows on all subjects are available via you tube.
The notebook idea was already mentioned. I tend to customize it like this:
Okay - I will call this voice inside me "lonely one" - I know you are hurting - but can you tell me what it is that is making you hurt?
Then I give that part of myself symbolically the pen to write to its hearts content.
Sometimes pages and pages of hurt, sometimes a poem.
Sometimes I just listen to rain on the roof or the crickets and I feel like I am in a new world if only for a couple minutes.
But these are just ideas - whatever works for you is just fine.
