I actually don't care if I'm called he or she. (Even if real life people do call me by my biological pronoun so it kind of mostly happens online.) I guess maybe it's because I'm more genderqueer than TS. I assume a TS would feel more hurt be called the wrong thing. But now I notice that both agenders and androgynous people want their own pronouns.
What is the most common gender neutral singular pronoun in English? (Even if it is not accepted as a word.)
In my Scandinavian language we have a new word which basically is a construct, which can be used both for when you do not know someones gender, or that you don't care which gender and also to be used for people not male not female. I was very skeptical at first, I liked the idea but I didn't like the word. I thought that will never take... But it did and it is used more and more! So I'm getting used to it.
As taught the Queen's English, I shudder when someone calls one person "they", even if I do it myself now. (Language rubs off on me super easy.)
When you are called the wrong pronoun, how do you feel? Like I say, I think I feel OK, but maybe I'm just USED to it?
One thing that really bugs me is when someone calls a pet "it" if they don't know the sex of it, and sometimes when they do. I feel that is objectifying a living being. Still, it would be cool if people would refer to me as "it". LOL.
