I went on disability in 1996 after being on extended leave of absence from the engineering company I worked for from about 1994. Think medicare kicked in after 1 year (that's sort of a black hole in my life during that time so not really sure). My pdoc was the one that put in all the paperwork & H helped me fill out the paperwork I was supposed to fill out.
For some reason I only remember 1 review during that time & they made the disability permanent. I got a paper telling me to disregard a paper about a review just about a year ago.....I left my H 7 years ago & moved 2100 miles away. I no longer waste money on a pdoc because I don't take psych meds....then made me too out of it to live alone & function after getting through the trauma on a high dose of seroquel that totally knocked me out so I could sleep.....I knew I couldn't live like that & live alone & take care of myself.....so I don't bother taking any meds other than my pain medications for the horrible migraines I ended up with....but they are NOT what my disability was based on.
I had never received the letter telling me about a review, so getting one telling me to disregard it was rather strange. I thought even though disability was determined to be permanent that there were still reviews every so often.......the last review was some time in the late 90's......so it's been over 15 years. So many other things have happened to add to the disability situation over those years. I wouldn't even be able to hold a part time position anywhere......so no point even trying.
