Why don't you ask her if you can do 6 small meals during the day instead of 3 larger ones? When I was first diagnosed, I was in the hospital and had 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. The meals seemed huge to me and they were compared to not eating anything except a child's portion for dinner. They had me eating constantly it seemed, really it was every 2 hours. Those days it was a "Thanksgiving dinner full" after every meal, not pleasant. That full/overly full feeling does go away eventually. In the hospital, if we did not eat everything that came on our tray, we would get supplemented. That sucked because you HAD to drink the Ensure regardless of how much it was and regardless of how full you were. The key was that each meal had X amount of calories and we needed them to fuel our bodies, therefore we had to eat everything. I was on a refeeding plan, so my meals were smaller at the beginning then they were when I was discharged 15 days later. I had to tell myself that it was just X more bites. When I went back into the hospital 4 months later, I was on a maintaince plan where my meals were bigger than before, but what a non-ED person would eat. There were a few occasions that I had that overly stuffed feeling, and it went away faster than before.

Talk to your dietician and be open with how you feel about eating the 3 meals a day. She is working for you. I wish you the best.
