stopdog, I did in fact shave my Belgian sheepdog. I cannot handle super cold temperatures in summer. I usually spend most of my time outside in summer, and the shock of going from very warm to very cool makes me feel awful and I get a lot of summer colds. I really resent having to take a jacket or sweater with me to wear inside when we go out to dinner with my mother in law.
