Well, while you have found support by "paying for it", you are finding people who know more and their interest is in helping others.
It can be hard to find friends because of how so many people get busy with their lives and responsibilities and they don't socialize as much or take time out to have friends. That is another reason why you are finding "friends" through paying for it because these people are busy too with their lives but their lives revolve around spending quality time with other people. Yet they are still "nice" people and are the kind of people you should have around you that would be "good friends".
Did you ever try a dating service? A lot of people have done well with that you know.
