I;m from the UK, Jinny's experience is typical of the uk. BUT there are so many people that are taking out and not putting in so eventually something has to give.
I think ((jinny)) Though it doesn't feel like it now, this doctor has given you a break. He could be irisponsible and keep dishing out pills for you? The path to recovery is long and hard and full of painful experiences, like your experience today, Yes it must be scary and I hope your GP is not just taking you off the meds? You may need to ween yourself off slowly? But as long as gps or doctors hand out pills a lot of people remain "STUCK"..
As I say in the end the doctor shut the door on me, it was the best break I could have had. I got motivated out of my pain. Jinny you were worried about how your 15yr old son would feel seeing you throwing a fit? well now you can show him how someone can change their lot? When my 18yr old son was 14 he needed picking up from a station because it was dark and late and I was to drunk to do it! I knew deep down inside that I cared about my kids and I decided then and there to get help! I never drank again. Its not been easy, but its possible.
