I was diagnosed with BPII about 20 years ago. I've done the whole med merry-go-round.
I was on Lithium and it controlled my hypomanic episodes but I think made my depression worse. many suicide attempt and hospitalizations for BP depression. I'm not on it anymore because my body did not respond well.
I now take Lamotrigine 250mg, Seroquel 150mg and Clonazepam 1mg at bedtime and .5 PRN
Lamotrigine works amazing for me. Back on Seroquel for a mixed state which seems to be helping. I couldn't sleep and it's helping with that.

Is there a cure? Well there's no hard evidence to say there is. In fact doctors say there is no cure. You will find the odd person that disagrees. I think we end up learning to manage it but the symptoms will rear their ugly head from time to time. Therefore I've never read any proof that this is curable. I think we stabilize to some degree.

Hope this is helpful
