Sounds like you have an unsympathetic GP.

I can asure you that if you have a severe mental health problem that there is no waiting list to see a psychiatrist. If you were having serious problems you would be seeing a mental health professional straight away.

If you feel that you are a danger to yourself or others please contact your doctor straight away and you should be seen very promptly.

It maybe that your GP feels that you are coping well enough, maybe you could ask for a second opinion from another GP.

On the otherhand there is a long waiting list if you want to see a psychololgist. Is this what your GP meant?
