Jinny, I'm so sorry about the long waiting lists in your country. I was a little confused. Are you on the waiting list for a psychologist/therapist or a psychiatrist/pdoc? Or both? Is there a long wait for both types of provider?

Could you get on the list for the pdoc and go see a counselor/therapist privately? Maybe try to see a T for some quick, shortterm help with coping strategies to help you deal with stuff during the wait for the pdoc. This won't help your underlying issues but at least might help with your symptoms, such as sleeplessness. The first thing my CBT-style counselor did with me last year was work on sleep, as I had only been getting a few hours a night for a couple of years. Basically she said, you can't function well without sleep so we ain't working on anything until you are getting more sleep. We worked on sleep for months. Sounds trivial, but getting enough sleep made moving forward in therapy actually possible for me, and getting at root problems.

Anyway, maybe it is worth paying out of pocket for a counselor to help short term while you wait on the list for the pdoc. And when you are dealing with symptoms and coping better, maybe you will find the therapist can help you more deeply.

Good luck.
