For me when I got sober after a couple of years my depression got worse. I was no longer self medicating and the psyche meds were not working. I can't go back to self medicating because that won't work. That was a disaster. Get sober and life is supposed to be well and wonderful. Don't work that way. It takes a lot of hard work. Even for people without dual diagnosis it takes a lot of hard work. I have read many many spiritual books including the one gaylegg mentioned. I have like a compilation of beliefs that work for me.
