I found a great tip a while back when figuring out ways to sleep well.
It can be seen as a form of meditation and is very simple.
Requirements: patience and a peaceful mind (some concentration).
Step 1: Choose to start at either your head or your toes and move up your body (or down).
Step 2: Using only your concentration, focus all your attention on your toes/feet/ankles. Feel this part of your body becoming totally relaxed.
Step3 and on: Move your concentration to your lower legs, then your upper and so forth all the way up your body.
The trick is to keep the previously relaxed body parts relaxed while moving to other parts. You can back track if need be!
Play around with it and see where it takes you. You may even find deeper meditations to be very helpful.
Tid Bit: Thoughts will naturally pop into your mind while you're trying to relax a body part. To deal with it, simply acknowledge that thought and let it slide away without putting your focus on it. Your main focus will be the relaxing.
