Well, it seems to me like he wants to seriously be your boyfriend and is hoping you will somehow let him know that you want him as a boyfriend. And maybe he was thinking about wanting children with you? Maybe you should try to ask him why he is acting that way and why he asked that. Of course, he might not want to admit it if what I am saying is true, not wanting to ruin the friendship.
