It sounds like physical because of the paralysis but that occurs because of waking in a specific sleep state. Also the hallucinations make it mental/sleep related. This is only listed as a "side" symptom of narcolepsy. And that is not the case here. It seems to be unrecognized as a disorder of its own. That's very interesting about schizophrenia but that that is also not the case.
