I just had a chat with one of my closest sober friends, who shared his philosophy on referrals to treatment. He said that one has a choice on how to see the referral--one can take it as a punishment or as a judicial gift certificate I have many friends who got the "judge nudge" and whose lives really blossomed because of it.
