I have been working for the same company for 13+ yrs. I am senior IT person who has contributed much to the company. Management has changed several times since I began here. The recent changes have a cross report to a woman who used to be a clerk and has now been given considerable more authority despite her lack of qualification. Although I do not directly report to her, there is an unspoken expectation that I should do whatever she asks. Because she is mostly unfamiliar with many of my responsibilities she often piles work on me that I resent. Due to this resentment I am often obstinate when she makes requests which gets her back up. She then communicates my lack of cooperation to my boss which puts me in a difficult predicament My manager is somewhat of a weak personality and she has his ear. Other members of my group seem to accept her authority and acquiesce to her requests which makes me look like a lone rebel. Any insights or suggestions would be extremely appreciated.
