The only time I knew I was hallucinating was when I was taking Lunesta... wonderful (they don't have the glowing iridescent butterfly in their commercials without a reason folks) but the night terrors were equally horrifying and I had to go off it.

Other than that period of time, I have no idea if I hallucinate It all looks bad to me lately.
