I did online dating for a while and really had no problem with this, though.
I was really upfront about the fact that whoever was "checking me out" had to 'like big butts and can not lie' and other similarly amusing ways to address the fact that I'm just simply not a tiny mini-booty.

I also had several different photos and I *updated them regularly* and made my profile like it was pretty much as if you were talking to me, not like I was giving a presentation on JosieTheGirl.

I think all of these things helped to cut down on the impression that I was either non-existent or that anyone should expect I am something other than I am.

Because, frankly, I got a lot of response and interaction.

I really think what I mentioned above had a lot to do with it, but particularly fairly requently updated photos [also some variety from different places and times as well- it lends credence that you are OMG a real person who actually interacts with other people. I did mention if I was particularly skinny in comparison to now if the photo was a few years back or something, but again with some humor. the funny pretty much always works for an assist ]
