I went into therapy with the same outlook as you have, that it won't work...what could it do? I'm happy the way I am (even though I wasn't) and as a result I was resistant to it and therapy didn't work for me for a long while. I had to get to a stage where I wanted to feel a bit better, where I didn't want to spend my life locked away, completely alone with paranoid thoughts and awful feelings. You have want it to work... for it to work otherwise you're wasting your time.

A therapist will give you the tools you need to help yourself, they won't force you to do anything or try to 'change' you, they are just going to be a steady guidance for you and a wealth of knowledge on how to help yourself feel better. And nobody is going to force you to attend, you are in control of your therapy.
