Is Equate a brand name for diphenhydramine? In Canada, we have a store-brand version of Gravol (Dramamine in the US) called Equate and it's diphenhydramine.

I had BPPV (severe vertigo and nausea) for 3 years, so I took a lot of anti-nauseants and I still get dizzy and nauseous a lot and I can feel motion sick when there's nothing moving. Once I started taking Celexa and Clonazepam I found that diphenhydramine made me feel much, much more drowsy than it had before. I find the same thing now that I'm on Lexapro. I actually take diphenhydramine to put me to sleep sometimes at night now.

I found that the Scopolamine patches (you wear it behind your ear) worked very well for me. It took care of my nausea and motion sickness and it didn't give me the intense drowsiness that Phenergan, Stemetil and diphenhydramine all did.

A drug-free option that works well for some people are Sea Bands. They're bracelets that work on the pressure points in your wrists to prevent motion sickness. They didn't work for me, but I have friends who swear by them and wear them on boats to prevent sea sickness.

A drug-free option I have had success with is ginger. I sometimes take two capsules of ginger (from the healthfood store) instead of using an anti-nauseant. It works quite well and doesn't have any side effects. I also drink ginger tea.
