Hello dear AngelPromise and a very big warm
WELCOME
to PC and all it has to offer, which is a great deal. In my long experience, and yes I do have an eating disorder and I do self harm, they CAN occur together. Often Psych Dr's tend to think that an eating disorder actually IS self harm and that's why many people with the various ED's don't carry out any other self harm type acts. There are lots of different reasons why people have ED's, it's not always all about being ''size zero'' or being ''healthy'' (orthorexia), some are due to abuse in childhood, some are about unhappiness. In my case it was due to Borderline Personality Disorder and ED's are part of that, I was one of those who chased the ''size zero''. There's not really a clear cut case, just as there isn't if a person without ED's carry out self harm. Hope that helps, please come back when you feel the need to talk, or share in the eating disorders forum. You are not alone hunny. HUGS.
