Hello LynneH: I'm so sorry to hear you are so isolated. Cats are wonderful. But we all need human companionship too. The weather where I am is chilly, rainy, & windy. So I could say it's not so great here today except that I love chilly, windy, rainy days... so, for me, it's perfect!

I don't know much about your situation. It sounds as though you have some kind of employment issue going on? Do you do, or could you do, some type of volunteer work? It's a great way to get to know people & volunteers are always much appreciated.

Personally I don't have friends either. But I am married & I don't have friends mostly because I prefer to keep to myself. I do have acquaintances, people I know casually but with whom I would not share anything personal. I'm retired now. But, if I wanted to make friends, I'd go out & do some volunteer work, join a club of some sort, find a support group to join, or perhaps become involved with a church (except that I'm not a religious person.) But, I do believe that the way people become friends is they meet one another as a result of having common interests & involvements.

Yesterday I posted, in the Depression Forum, a link to a YouTube video by California therapist Kati Morton with regard to the issue of isolation. My post was titled: "Isolation". If you haven't seen it, it is worth taking a look. My best wishes to you.
