Maybe the co-worked has come 'territorial' issues (the workplace is full of them ...) and will need some time to adjust to you being there. Who knows if he will make anything of the conversation with the manager about your hours. There will be some tension for a few days as this guy adjusts but it might be best to let the whole thing drop. It really is the co-worker's issue, not yours.
Your issue is to do the job you are assigned and if you want extra credit, use this as a practice opportunity to work with a difficult person and not lose your serenity.
