Part of an email I sent to my T:
I hope this isn't too creepy! I hope my T doesn't think I'm some crazy person after she reads this!

Hi T,
I just wanted to say thank you for helping me. The appointments I have are one hour every other week or so and are a small fraction of total time in a day/week/year but are important and meaningful to me. My appointments help ground me and keep me from spiraling down a negative path or sometimes help me turn around or make a turn when needed. – and even sometimes reassure me that in life I’m doing what’s right for me.
.....I find the therapeutic relationship to be both helpful and yet unlike anything else in some ways. In society we think of people that mean the most (or have had a positive impact) to us as being a: mother, grandmother, spouse, family member, friend. A therapists importance is a little piece of all of those titles but at the same time doesn’t fill the role of a mother, grandmother, friend etc….. And yet the feelings for a therapist can be just as powerful and meaningful as the feelings for a beloved family member, mother, grandmother, spouse etc..
I truly don’t know where I would be in my life right now without your help.
Eternally grateful, thankful, and with Love,
Geez
