Well, that's sad. I hope you can do what you know to do, and see a doctor anyway. Obviously your spouse doesn't think straight... I mean, what has denial got to do with taking care of yourself? As if you can deny there's something wrong will make it go away? Does he do that with your mother? (Maybe he just wishes you did?) And to take out such an emotional reaction on an innocent being! I mean, on you and the cat I think I would be depressed too if I had to live with someone so reactive Maybe he's afraid that if you seek help he'll have to own up to needing help too?

To me, he isn't going to change. You need to get the help you need, imo. These things don't correct themselves on their own... they aren't "all in our head" ya know?
