I am older and shy and that subject is hard for me to bring up too...
I think Perna's suggestion was great!
Sometimes, it also helps me to email or to write down the question or to reference something I've read to start the conversation, and let T help the subject to evolve.
I love that you trust your T enough to want to talk things out with them...
