Stories like this don't surprise me. There are so many of us who have been misdiagnosed and left traumatized, all because psychiatry cannot admit they don't have the answers. Patients are to blame when they have no clue what the hell is going on. Once your physical symptoms have been declared psychosomatic, it is hard to regain your credibility.
Psychiatry tried to tell me my severe lactose intolerance was due to irritable bowel syndrome, that it was psychosomatic, even though I have dealt with the problem since childhood. Come on. The problem was fixed with Lactaid and lactose free milk.
Psychiatry is just one perspective. Physical symptoms that cannot be explained by medicine is all in the mind. The profession is so black and white. Interesting how they accuse people of being that way. They are just as guilty. Look at the DSM.
