If you are working for a chain operation, I would still see if I could get a job with the same group as in the other town. It could just be that management of where you are now is not as friendly overall as where you were. I would maybe research all the possible places you want to apply on the Internet and see what their corporate policy is like. For example, McDonald's has "Hamburger University" but I don't think Burger King does. Starbucks has some awesome training/material, has turned people's lives around just working for them. I would see what websites I really liked, what was attractive to me then go see if they were as good as they look :-) I see you are in Australia and don't know what types of places you have, etc. but I'm sure most of them have Web sites?
