I don't know I still think cbt could help to some extent. Not so much with did it happen or not and was it horrible or not but cbt is more than just thinking it also has the behavioral elements. So first thing is they don't talk about the past beyond say the last year or so anyway....strangely it has little to do with the setting so much as what you are actively feeling now. So let's say you worry to much about stuff....what you do is set up a time for worrying it could be once a day or once a week so you not down your worry and 6pm Friday and say you'll think about it then for an hour and your mind tends to accept that and not over think things. If you are mildly depressed you can close yourself into a room and just laugh at nothing for ten minutes because the biological action of laughing releases the happy neurotransmitters even if you aren't actually happy. You can also do the triple happiness approach....take three things you like and combine them into one activity....I'm going to the botanical garden to photograph flowers while playing my favorite tunes on mp3 and drinking an iced tea.

This I we is new to me but if you are having anxiety before bed due to too many bought a racing around you take a notebook and write out the issue and a possible solution before going to bed ....this is even if you need to say something like at ten am I will plan out such and such a thing. We did breathing exercises, timelines pie charts etc.

So yeah it won't erase your trauma but it can very rapidly erase some of the current effects that you're having...it's defiantly not all meta cognition....I think the best part really was the changing your behavior to change your mood part...
