I believe JD is right that it has been shown that if an opiate is going to alleviate real pain the less likely the chance for addiction. And also true that an addict would take more and then some more even when not needed for pain. For the high. Doesn't sound like getting high at a quarter dose. It may just be psychological fear but I wouldn't worry to much. Psychosomatic anxiety and withdrawal can be tough too.
