My counselor told me this. The job is only x hours out of my life in any given day. I can enjoy the other x hours doing whatever I want. I am considering whether another job would suit me better; I owe no loyalty to this place other than trying my best when I am there. As far as the 401K goes, it depends on how young or old you are. The standard advice is don't withdraw early; but if you are 20-something it is a better idea than if you are 50-something. But each person's life is unique. I see nothing wrong with getting a minimum wage job as a tide you over if that is what you want. One of the best jobs I ever had was a minimum wage job.

In the meantime, use to your advantage all the protections and rules the company has in place to protect yourself from abuse or misuse on the job. There are some people in the world who are just predators--and they aren't all hiding in alley ways waiting to pounce; they are in the workplace too. Don't give them any quarter, I say. If they're just whisperers and eye-rollers, ignore them. If they are plotters and abusers, go to HR and enlist their help. If you are working where there is no HR, consider working for the type company that values its employees enough to have rules and protections in place. I hope this helps.
Thanks for this!
