i guess if he said that he isn't sure how it helps then he might be able to understand a bit if you can tell him how you see others benefiting from it.
different therapists are inclined to see different things as important. some look for dreams and some look for present interactions and some look for childhood experiences and some look for certain kinds of cognitions etc.
but yeah, i guess most therapists are willing to be flexible and to try and do something with you if you think it might help you.
