Well to quote JFK, Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.' How unamerican is it, to recognize apathy and desire to find a niche you can contribute to the betterment of your society and even humanity, as a whole?

I get what you mean, about realizing how looking around you, for the first time feels and seems. It's a bitter pill to swallow, at first. From there, connecting with those on a similar thought plane, takes time, and leads to less bitter, more hope...
