In (very) short, my husband is extremely guilty and remorseful for his behavior while we were a living-together-married couple. He is remorseful with good reason. David is quite mentally ill. Believe me when I say that he'd rather pay for things than take the necessary steps (intensive therapy, meds, MAJOR life changes) to change.
