The DSM has a catchall diagnosis of "dissociative disorder not otherwise specified" that means the person does not meet the criteria for any of the other dissociative disorders, but they do dissociate to the point it causes problems.

Yes! That describes my experience. I do dissociate..sometimes I am aware I am dissociating...other times I lose time and am not aware i have dissociated until other people mention I have done something that I don't remember doing/saying. Sometimes I lose time. Sometimes I "go away." It's complicated and all mixed up. When I was younger I would get in trouble all the time for not completing projects or following outlines...when I wasn't aware there was an outline or a project.
