I.take 200mg.in am.and then 200mg at bedtime. I've been on it for ten years and have no side effects. I'm also on geodon.which helps the lamictal and ad work better together. It really helps stabilize my moods and I love that there s are no side effects. 400mg is the highest dose you can take...no higher. I would also talk to yr pdoc about increasing out if you feel like you need it. I can't say one bad thing about it. I was going to try lithium but decided I didn't want the bad side effects. I was just having bad breakthrough episodes which is why we considered changing it but the geodon took care of the problem. I wish you luck. Hugs
