DS was startled when he went into the bathroom just now and there was a snake lying on top of the toilet. We have an electrical short in that room so no working lights except portable lanterns. He said it wasn't terribly big and it looked dark but he wasn't certain if it was a black snake or other. We went looking for it together with two lanterns but I think he startled the snake as much as it startled him and now it is not to be found.
My house is really messy so it would be easy for a snake to hide. Used towels and clothing are all over the bathroom floor so I dunno how to catch it.
Fortunately we are not afraid of snakes and if I could get a good look to make sure it is not poisonous I'd be fine. This is snake # 8 or 9 that has come indoors since we have lived here. They have all been rat snakes, black snakes or green snakes so I killed the first 2 but after that we just let them be. I did hold one down gently with a garden rake and DS and I tried to get it to go into a cardboard box so we could put it outside but the snake chose to go under the refrigerator instead.
How should I catch this wild snake?
