Ugh CB! You must be SO frustrated. It's a good thing you're smart and do your research. How many people are taking drugs that could be dangerous for them because their docs don't bother CHECKING before they write a scrip? Making sure the drugs are safe for you SHOULD BE your doc's job, not yours.
A few years ago, a doc prescribed me ephedrine -- as an anti-nauseant of all things! At the time, she was also monitoring me at every visit because I was losing weight rapidly (couldn't keep food down) and had tachychardia. So, I mentioned to her that I had read about ephedrine causing tachychardia in people with NORMAL heartrates and questioned if it would be safe for someone like me (whose heartrate was already dangerously high) to take it. She looked at me like I was speaking in tongues and told me she hadn't heard anything negative about ephedrine.
I decided, however, for my own safety, not to take it. I talked to my GI specialist a few weeks later and he said it was a smart decision. He said it wouldn't have worked as an anti-nauseant anyway -- unless my doc thought my nausea was caused by post-nasal drip.

He also said that in addition to making my heartrate dangerously high, it would have made my anxiety much, much worse.
Grrr... sorry for rambling. I just get so fed up with doctors not paying attention. This is how people end up sicker or dead!
I hope you can find something that works for you and is SAFE for you. Your doctor needs to start paying attention!!!
