my anxiety kicked into full gear all of a sudden too. to the point of having hallucinations...it was awful...I was given klonopin but didn't like that it was addicting so I got on buspar. it did the trick. I don't experience any side effects from it. it does the job of taking the edge off my anxiety. I still take klonopin from time to time if something overwhelms me, but buspar lets me go about a normal life.
