Anony, when I'm depressed, I don't believe it when people tell me I'll feel better. I sometimes try to tell myself that I will feel better, but I don't believe myself either. That's the nature of depression... that hopelessness.

My depressive periods have always ended, though, and I always do feel better eventually. At one point I felt better for about 14 years, so that gives me hope.

P.S. I had depression when I was a kid, a teenager and when I was in my very early 20s. It got better when I was about 22 though... and I didn't get depressed again until last year (when I was 36). I have only had two periods of depression in my 30s (both last year) and they were relatively short compared to what I went through when I was younger. So, for me, things did get better. I hope the same happens for you.
