I'm sure you realize that stupidity has nothing to do with it. There are therapists and psychiatrists who undergo therapy for their own issues. Obviously, they know all the 'tricks.'
I can tell when my therapist is 'trying something' but for the sake of my self, I play along as best I can, as long as I feel its appropriate.
If one goes for say, physical therapy, does it matter if you know that the therapist is manipulating and stretching your muscles? You are there on your own free will. To a certain extent you have put your trust in their abilities.
